Learning HTML
I began learning HTML last winter in 504 course. When I started doing my first page last winter, I found many difficulties to understand it. However, this week I concentrated on the PowerPoint “HTML Elements and Tags”, and I began understanding the idea. Then, I spent most of the time reviewing the tutorial “W3school”; I started from the introduction until HTML CSS. In fact, both the tutorial and the PowerPoint are very helpful and useful. I recommend everyone who wants to learn HTML; using the tutorial is a good way because it easy to understand.

This course utilizes many different educational materials such as lectures, internet links, and videos. In fact, I read the lecture and links and they are easy and amazing. The Wikipedia articles are very useful because they offer a lot of explanations that help me to understand many terms and also help me to complete my assignment. Then, I watch the videos; they are also very helpful and useful because they contain many interesting explanations. One of the most interesting and amazing videos is “Warriors of the Net” because it summarized our whole week’s class lecture in 13 minutes. Also, the video of the history of the Ethernet (Robert Metcalfe) is very interesting, indicating when and how the Ethernet began.

Be Patient
Working with computer teaches a patient. Installing software and downloading programs need to be more uncomplaining. However, it is normal doing mistakes, but you have to be aware for what you will do. During the experience that I got this week, I have learned many things since I installed and updated many types of software. On the other hand, I normally faced many problems such as errors in installations, misspelling commands, and confusing messages. However, the good way to learn and resolve all problems is to read and read and read your people’ problems; in addition, practicing and understanding the commands are the best ways to do your work easily.

Important Tips of Text Editors
Within the vim tutorial in my Ubuntu Linux, I find many amazing things. First, the cursor’s movement is very interesting as H, J, K, and L have the same functions as keyboard arrows. Using the letter keys is faster than arrows, but one needs more practice to be familiar with them. Second, a letter “i” is very important because it is the way to insert text. Third, a letter “a” is also very important because it is the way to append text. Last, a letter “x” is also very important because it is the way to delete a text. After practicing in the text editor, I configured files such as “.bashrc” and “/etc/apt/sources.list”. After configuring those files, there are many results such as hidden files in the first one and unaccess files in the second one. In the second configuration, you can access those files by deleting the pound sign.

Access the Remote Linux Desktop
In the beginning, before accessing the remote Linux desktop, I found that I did not install VNC. After trying many times, it installed very well. In fact, as a beginner, I found it difficult to understand and do all the computer stuff. Generally, I was scared to download, install, or do any processes related to the computer. However, after I read the readings and watched the videos, I confidently began doing these things. Following the instructions step by step is very useful to download or to install any software. I will briefly say that both readings and videos are the important tools to access the remote Linux desktop. Finally, I recommend that trying and trying is the great way to do everything in our life. Do not give up, just try doing it!
